Three-time Fan Award winner Bill Judd knows what it’s like to hear the right song at the right time. Before becoming a leading singer and songwriter, Judd was traveling the globe as the frontman for a secular rock band. Caught up in a cycle of drugs and alcohol, Judd’ life was spiraling out of control.

“I’m like a kid in a candy store when I’m backstage and seeing all these artists,” Judd says of being backstage at the Grand Ole Opry House for the Fan Awards. “It’s like, man, I’ve been listening to their music for a long time, and I never thought I’d be in the same room or the same category with some of these people. It’s pretty crazy.”

Judd won his first Fan Award back in 2017. In 2021, in addition to winning “Male Artist of the Year,” Judd also took home “Song of the Year” honors. The fact that fans vote for this award makes it that much more special.

“It’s always great when you have your peers in the music industry recognize what you’re doing, but for me, when fans do it, they’re the ones that keep me going. They’re the ones coming to the shows and listening to the music.”
